David Jaehning studied architecture at the University of North Carolina – Charlotte (BArch), and the University of California – Berkeley (MArch).  He worked for renowned architecture firms including Herzog & de Meuron, David Chipperfield, Skidmore, Ownings and Merrill, and Marlon Blackwell before establishing his own practice in 2017.

He lectured and assisted the Comprehensive Design Studio at the University of Arkansas from 2012 to 2013, and was an invited visiting critic at the Fay Jones School of Architecture, and Carnegie Mellon University. He currently teaches at UC Berkeley's College of Environmental Design.
